DMU were after a set of photographs for their 2015 student prospectus. Primarily they wanted me to focus on showcasing the University's facilities, but they needed the photographs to tie in with their new brand strategy which positioned DMU as a place where "conventions are broken". The conventional approach to University Prospectus photography seemed to be pretty staged and more down the "stock image" path. I felt confident we could easily break this conventional approach but the fairly mundane and "shot-to-death" nature of the subjects (gyms, swimming pools, classrooms, studios etc.) did present a challenge. However, by exploring and experimenting with obscure lighting conditions, angles, compositions and techniques, I was able to deliver the client with the imagery they were after.
